Founded in June 2020, the Émile Friant Association (A.E.F.) is a non-profit organization for the study and promotion of the art of Émile Friant (1863-1932), the naturalist painter from Lorraine. Its goal is to also conduct research for the publication of the upcoming online Catalogue raisonné des tableaux, pastels, gouaches et aquarelles of the artist.
The originality of the association relies on the people that compose its board of directors. From various nationalities and professional backgrounds – collectors, gallerists, experts in drawings and paintings from the 19th century, art historians – they put their wide array of points of view, skills and approaches at the service of the Association.
